I was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1973 and had a passion for sport ever since I was a small child thanks to the support and interests of my parents. Besides playing tennis and ice hockey, I was also a passionate downhill skier and I started golf when I was 10 years old.
I developed my skills as a young golfer in the second oldest golf club in Austria, the Kärntner Golf Club Dellach. As a young team, we were able to win the Austrian Team Championship title twice. In addition to the experiences as a member of the team, I also had success by myself as golfer on the Austrian National Team.
In this time, I finished my education in business, which would be the basis for all of my future business endeavors. After my obligatory military duties, I played for 2 years on the European Challenge Tour and the US Nike Tour with good rankings. However, the prospect of living my life in a hotel room and airplane were too much for me at the time and I decided to start the 5 year education to become a Qualified Head Golf Professional. My desire was to concentrate on coaching amateurs so that they could benefit from my experience to improve their game.
After several years working as the Head Pro for Golf Club Velden - Wörthersee, where I was fortunate to lead the team as coach to the Team Championship title, I opened a chain of golf stores and also took over temporary responsibility during my father’s ill health for his Austrian golf import business.
My next step was to leave Europe for Egypt to run the Gary Player Golf Academy at the Cascades Country Club. After 2 years in Egypt, I returned to Europe, but this time I made my home in Switzerland. At first I started as Head Professional in the Golf Club Oberburg and shortly afterwards, I got an offer to lead the Golf Academy as Head Professional and director of instruction at the Migros Golfparks Zürich. Over the next 7 years, I developed the Academy to be the number one in Switzerland, and also number 2 in the whole of Europe, just behind Bad Griessbach.
During my time in Switzerland, I have been able to further develop my skills as a golf professional and coach by taking part in many seminars and workshops for golf professionals. With my passion for learning, I’ve been able to constantly analyze and improve my teaching skills which have benefited many professional and up-in-coming young players like Philippe Schweizer, the former #1 Swiss Junior. I am a member of the board of the Swiss PGA as treasurer, am very involved in the training and instruction of professionals as an expert with the Bundesamt for Sport in Switzerland and am a member of the board of the Swiss Federal Diploma training program.
In order for me to concentrate on my ambitions for professional golf and to give the best quality experience to my students and clients, I decided to become a freelance coach and following my own projects in spring 2014 . I also took the chance to develop myself with some further education programs which I passed successfully as Swiss Olympic coach in competitive sports and School director of sports with federal diploma.
I was able to pass on my expertise as an external consultant to various health organizations and clinics (e.g. the renowned Schulthess Clinic) and support the development of golf medical programs in the areas of integrative training, prevention and rehabilitation of golfers. As the latest milestone, I was the first and only provider to achieve QualiCert certification, which allows my clients to receive up to CHF 800.- per year in health insurance reimbursement.
